IPL Photofacial
IPL photofacial is a non-invasive treatment that targets sun damage, redness, and uneven pigmentation, helping to rejuvenate your complexion with minimal downtime. It’s a popular choice among our Dallas patients seeking effective skin revitalization.
More Details
An IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) photofacial uses light energy to target and reduce dark spots, sun damage, redness, and visible blood vessels. The light gently penetrates the skin’s surface to break down excess pigment and treat vascular irregularities, helping your skin appear clearer, brighter, and more evenly toned over time.

What to Expect
Skin Prep
Discontinue use of retinoids, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, vitamin C, and other exfoliating products at least 3–5 days prior to your appointment to minimize irritation.
Avoid waxing, laser treatments, or any other professional exfoliating procedures for at least two weeks before your IPL photofacial.
Avoid tanning, using self-tanners, and prolonged sun exposure for at least a week before treatment.
Medication Check
Avoid taking any medications that can make your skin more sensitive to light (doxycycline or minocycline) for at least 3 days before your appointment.
If you've been on Accutane, ensure you've discontinued use at least 6 months before your treatment.
Cold Sores?
If you're prone to cold sores, consult with your provider about taking an antiviral medication prior to treatment to prevent outbreaks.
Active Skin Irritation?
Let us know beforehand so we can assess whether treatment is right for your skin that day.
Pregnant or Breastfeeding?
IPL Photofacial is not recommended if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding.
Cleanse + Protection
We’ll begin with a gentle cleanser to remove makeup, sunscreen, and surface oils.
We’ll apply a cool, clear gel to the treatment area and give you protective eyewear to keep your eyes safe.
Treatment
Each pulse of light feels like a quick, small rubber band snap.
The treatment is quick, typically taking only 20-45 minutes for the entire face!
Immediately After
After your treatment, we’ll apply soothing serums and medical-grade sunscreen to calm and protect the skin.
Expect Mild Redness
Your skin might look a little pink and feel warm. That sensation usually fades within a few hours.
Dark Spot Detox
Dark spots or pigmentation may temporarily darken after treatment. This is totally normal and they’ll gradually fade over the next few days as your skin clears.
Keep It Cool
Avoid workouts, hot showers, saunas, or anything that causes sweating for at least 24–48 hours.
Sun Protection is Non-Negotiable
Avoid sun exposure and tanning. Always wear a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ and reapply every 2 hours when outdoors. Hats are highly encouraged.
Skincare Guide
You can resume your regular skincare routine the next day. Just hold off on retinol, exfoliating acids, and scrubs for 3–5 days, or until your skin feels completely calm and healed.
No Picking
If your skin starts to flake or feel dry, resist the urge to exfoliate or pick at your skin. Let it naturally shed and renew on its own.
When To Come Back
Depending on your skin goals, we may recommend a series of 3–6 IPL Photofacials spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
