Dermal Fillers
Sometimes it’s about restoring what’s been lost. Other times, it’s about enhancing what’s already there. Dermal fillers can smooth, lift, and define — bringing back softness where volume has faded or adding structure in areas that need a little support.
What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are a non-surgical treatment option that can help refresh your appearance by restoring lost volume and smoothing out wrinkles. They commonly contain hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in your body that supports skin hydration and elasticity. At Wellness Code in Dallas, our injectors are trained to customize filler treatments so that they work with your natural features, enhancing balance and harmony without overfilling.

Start To Finish
What to Expect
Plan Ahead
Book your appointment at least 2 weeks before any major event to allow your results to fully develop and for any bruising, redness, or swelling to subside.
Medication Check
For at least 3–5 days before your appointment, we recommend stopping aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen, and other NSAIDs. This helps minimize bruising and bleeding. Always consult your doctor before discontinuing any prescribed medications.
Wait on Supplements
For 3 days prior to your appointment, hold off on taking fish oil, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, garlic, and St. John’s Wort, as these may increase the risk of bruising.
Skip Alcohol & Caffeine
Avoid alcohol and caffeine for 24 hours before your appointment to help minimize bruising, swelling, and bleeding.
Consider Arnica
You can start taking arnica supplements a couple of days before your appointment to help reduce bruising.
Cold Sores?
If you have a history of cold sores, let us know! We may recommend an antiviral to prevent any outbreaks.
Pregnant or Breastfeeding?
Dermal fillers are not recommended if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding.
Consultation
We’ll start with a conversation to discuss your goals, assess the treatment area, and create a customized plan just for you.
Numbing + Prep
We’ll cleanse your skin and apply a topical numbing cream to keep you comfortable. Some areas may also be numbed with a small injection of local anesthetic.
Treatment
The injections themselves are typically fast, and most patients describe the sensation as a slight pinch or pressure.
Immediately After
Right after treatment, you may notice mild redness, swelling, or small spots of bleeding. This is completely normal and should go away quickly. Full results will appear over the next 1–2 weeks.
Hands Off
Avoid touching or applying pressure to the treated area for at least 6 hours.
Keep It Cool
Avoid hot showers, saunas, intense workouts, and excessive sweating for at least 24-48 hours.
No Facials
Hold off on any other facial treatments for at least 2 weeks after your filler appointment. This includes facials, massages, gua sha, microneedling, and similar treatments.
Stay Elevated
Try to remain upright for 4 hours after your treatment. This helps with swelling and allows the filler to settle properly.
For the first few nights, sleep on your back with your head slightly elevated. This can help with swelling and support the best possible results.
Go Makeup Free
Avoid wearing makeup for at least 24 hours after your treatment to keep the area clean and free from anything that could cause irritation.
Managing Discomfort
If you feel any discomfort, you can take over-the-counter acetaminophen (Tylenol), but avoid ibuprofen or aspirin.
If you experience swelling, applying a cool compress for 15-minute intervals can help reduce it. Make sure not to apply ice directly to your skin—use a cloth to avoid irritation.
When to Come Back
Most patients return every 6–12 months to maintain their results. Your provider will recommend the ideal time frame based on your goals and how your body metabolizes the filler.
