Chemical Peels

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels exfoliate and rejuvenate the skin, addressing a variety of concerns such as acne, hyperpigmentation, and signs of aging. At Wellness Code, we offer advanced chemical peels, including the VI Peel and The Perfect Derma Peel, to help you achieve a clearer, smoother, and more radiant complexion.

Chemical Peels

A chemical peel uses a medical-grade solution to gently exfoliate dull, damaged skin—revealing a new, brighter layer beneath. This process also stimulates collagen and helps even tone and texture over time. During your complimentary skin consultation, your esthetician will help you choose the right peel based on your skin goals and concerns.

Start To Finish

What to Expect

Skin Prep

Discontinue use of retinoids, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, vitamin C, and other exfoliating products at least 3–5 days prior to your appointment.

Avoid waxing, laser treatments, or any other professional exfoliating procedures for at least two weeks before your peel.

Avoid tanning, using self-tanners, and prolonged sun exposure for at least a week before treatment.

Medication Check

Avoid NSAIDs (like Advil), aspirin, and fish oil supplements for 3 days before and after treatment, if possible, to reduce the risk of bruising.

Taking Accutane? You'll need to wait at least 6 months after completing your Accutane treatment before scheduling a Chemical Peel.

Cold Sores?

If you're prone to cold sores, consult with your provider about taking an antiviral medication prior to treatment to prevent outbreaks.

Active Skin Irritation?

Let us know beforehand so we can assess whether treatment is right for your skin that day.

Pregnant or Breastfeeding?

Chemical peels are not recommended if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding.

Cleanse

We’ll begin with a gentle cleanser to remove makeup, sunscreen, and surface oils.

Treatment

The peel solution will be applied evenly to your skin. You may experience a mild tingling or stinging sensation, which typically subsides within a minute.

The solution needs to remain on your skin for at least 4–6 hours. During this time, avoid touching, washing, or applying any products to the treated area

Expect Mild Redness

Your skin may appear red, tan, or slightly yellow; this is temporary and will fade within minutes.

Take-Home Kit

You'll be provided with a post-peel kit containing specific instructions and products to care for your skin.

Peeling Timeline

Skin typically starts to flake or peel 2–3 days after treatment and may continue for up to a week.

Keep It Cool

Avoid workouts, hot showers, saunas, or anything that causes sweating for at least 24–48 hours.

Sun Protection is Non-Negotiable

Avoid sun exposure and tanning. Always wear a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ and reapply every 2 hours when outdoors. Hats are highly encouraged.

No Makeup

Skip foundation and makeup until your peeling is complete and the skin is fully healed. Mineral SPF can help even things out in the meantime.

No Picking

If your skin starts to flake slightly or feel dry, resist the urge to exfoliate or pick at your skin. Let it naturally shed and renew on its own.

When to Come Back

Depending on your skin goals, we may recommend a series of 3–6 peels spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
